The deadly California fires weren’t only horrific for the people who witnessed them, but homeless animals were affected too. Many shelter dogs had to relocate during this time. Sadly, this made it even harder for some of them to find homes. A loving Pit Bull named Big Head is one of the many dogs who had to be moved amid the wildfires, but he’s still struggling to find a home.

Animal rescue advocates are praying that the power of social media can help this sweet older dog find a home as soon as possible. After all, how could anyone say no to his cute face?

Meet Big Head!

Big Head arrived at the Carson Animal Care Center in California in September 2020. He is estimated to be around 7 years old, so he’s technically a senior. But he clearly has so much life left in him. He has even become a fan-favorite among the shelter staff.

Volunteers often call Big Head a “sweet and adorable” dog. He always has so much love to give. Even so, he has been at the shelter for three months now because he keeps getting overlooked.

Due to overcrowded shelters, Pit Bull breeds like Big Head are often euthanized to make more space. Poor Big Head had to be transferred to this shelter to save him during the wildfires, but it also created more obstacles for him. This sweet boy needs someone to adopt or foster him in order to save his life.

Help Him Find a Forever Home!

Saving Carson Shelter Dogs has used Facebook as a tool to help Big Head get adopted. They’ve shared a series of adorable photos and videos of him to help spread the word. In the videos, he seems calm and gentle, even when other dogs are barking around him. The organization fears that if someone doesn’t come to save him soon, he won’t get a chance to live a long, happy life.

Unfortunately, the shelter is currently closed to the public, but those interested in adopting can schedule an appointment to meet Big Head. I personally can’t imagine living in a household that bans dogs from the furniture. I love having my dog sleep in bed with me, and he loves it too. The only real trouble lies in the allocation of bed space. Dogs tend to take up more space than polite society typically allows.

An adorable Husky named Millie loves sleeping in a bed, whether people are in it or not. A video posted to Reddit shows the dog all cozied up in her humans’ bed. When the time comes for Millie’s human brother to take a nap, she has no plans to budge from her spot.

As these two’s father leads the little boy to the bed, he points to the stubborn dog and jokingly encourages his son to ask her to scoot. Laughing, the kid does, but you can tell he wouldn’t mind sharing the bed with her. Millie doesn’t even move a muscle, except to look blankly up at her dad.

“Alright, you just stay there,” the cameraman says before throwing the blanket over both of them. This was a losing battle from the start.

After a few gentle licks to her brother’s nose, Millie settles right back in. Eventually, we end up with the most adorable image: Millie and her little brother cuddling under the covers. What a great way to take your afternoon nap!

Like A Mother To Her Tiny Human

In the video’s caption, the lucky father to these two cuties writes:

“Parker always cuddles Millie before he goes to sleep it’s like a daily need for him haha! He’s been this way for 2 years now. He loves his huskies so much. I think Millie our husky believes she is his mother… Makes me so happy to see them bond this way!!”

So while we may already know Huskies for their vocal abilities, turns out they make great furry mother figures too. Other Redditors who lived with Huskies agree.

16-year-old Shane Koch of Florida was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome when he was only 8 years old. Tourette’s is a nervous system disorder that causes tics that are difficult to control. All his life, Koch has faced bullying because of it, from students and even teachers.

But when he adopted a puppy named Callum, his world changed for the better. Callum helped boost his confidence and control his tics. Now, the pair are social media famous, which allows Koch to spread a little positivity to anyone who’s feeling down or out of place.

Dogs Make Life Better

Callum was just a young puppy when Koch first adopted him from the Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue in Royal Palm Beach. The teen probably thought he was saving the puppy, but in the end, Callum ended up saving him too. Middle school had been difficult for Koch in terms of fitting in and being treated fairly. But as he began high school with a new furry friend at home, he felt a little more confident.

Not only is Callum fun to be around, but he also helps Koch better than any human can. The pup can comfort Koch whenever his tics occur.

“He notices when I do the tics, he’ll nudge me,” said Koch. “He can literally sense when I do those tics and as I feel it coming and a lot of that stress will go away.”

Koch also explained that having a dog, even if they’re not a service dog or therapy dog, can still help people greatly. Dogs are great at distracting you, playing with you, and keeping you busy. So, Callum helps Koch control his Tourette’s in a way that the teen didn’t even know was possible.

Not long after this bond began, Koch turned to TikTok to spread positivity. His videos of Callum became popular in no time, so now he hopes to be an inspiration to other kids with Tourette’s or those who simply feel like outcasts.

Callum’s Rise to Fame

Koch started making TikTok videos at the beginning of 2020. He saw how popular the platform was, so he decided to try it out by recording a video of Callum. That video quickly blew up, gaining around 500,000 views. Plus, Koch had a good time filming it, so he decided to keep going. Now, he and Callum are social media stars with 1.4 million followers.

“I created the page to show awareness, to show that you are not different nor normal and it’s better to be weird than normal,” said Koch.
