RECALL: Specialty Dog Food Gets Recalled Due To Listeria Concerns

Just Food For Dogs of Los Alamitos, California has issued a voluntary recall for certain lots if its all-natural dog food due to contamination with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, according to Dog Food Advisor.

The website reports that, according to the company:

“A customer reported that JustFoodForDogs’ Turducken special made her dogs sick with vomiting and diarrhea.

At that point, JustFoodForDogs initiated laboratory testing with preliminary results revealing contamination of the company’s human-grade green bean supply with Listeria monocytogenes.”

The affected products are as follows:

  • JustFoodForDogs Turducken
    Batch dates: XX110118 to XX123118
  • Beef and Russet Potato
    Batch dates: XX110118 to XX011419
  • Fish and Sweet Potato
    Batch dates: XX110118 to XX011419

A letter sent to customers further explains:

“It is genuinely heartbreaking to report that we have just received preliminary test results that suggest our human grade green bean supply was sent to us contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Healthy dogs may experience no signs but some, including elderly or weakened dogs, may experience vomiting and/or diarrhea. Severe disease from Listeria in dogs is rare. Listeria monocytogenes is more concerning in humans, if consumed.”
