Grand Prairie, Texas is delivering special packages this holiday season. The Prairie Paws Adoption Center is promising to bring the magic of Christmas to any family who adopts a new four-legged family member on December 21st or 22nd. It’s creatively called the Pawlar Express! It’s an exciting collaboration they’ve created alongside the big man himself!
Find A New BFF Then Let Santa’s Elves Do The Rest
Hitching a ride on the Pawlar Express for your new family member is simple. Step one is to go to the shelter and fall in love with your new BFF. Then Santa’s elves will make sure your new furbaby gets delivered safely to your house just in time for Christmas. So easy, a snowman can do it!
The shelter says deliveries are limited and they are on a first-come, first-served basis. Deliveries will happen on December 23rd, 24th, and 25th. Adoption fees are only $70! Santa, of course, isn’t charging to deliver your new family member, but he wouldn’t be mad if you made an extra donation to the shelter. He’s getting paid in puppy breath kisses and cuddles so he can’t complain!
If you’re in the Grand Prairie area, you can pre-register here.
Pro tip: Make sure your chimney is extra clean and leave out some dog bones alongside Santa’s cookies.
On The Fence About Asking Santa For A New Four-Legged Family Member?
If you’re considering bringing a new family member into your home this holiday season but you need a little encouragement, take a look at this sweet girl. Roxy spent eight years in a shelter before celebrating her first Christmas in her own home! She had been dumped at the shelter when she was only two years old. After 2,764 days, Roxy went home with her new family. She came into the shelter as an energetic puppy and was leaving as a grey-faced bundle of love. Adopting a dog at Christmastime isn’t to be taken lightly. Roxy’s new parents planned to bring Roxy into their family for months. They made sure she had everything she needed, including a backyard and plenty of blankets to snuggle with!
And, if your home isn’t quite ready for another set of paws, don’t feel bad! There are plenty of ways you can spread holiday cheer to pups in need. Blankets are in high demand this time of year as temperatures drop. Get a jump on spring cleaning and drop off some of your old blankets that have been taking up room in your closet. A warm dog will thank you as they curl up in a fluffy new blankie. Playtime and a full belly are also always in high demand for doggos awaiting their furever families. Toys and food are always welcomed gifts too!
You can also ask your local shelter or rescue groups if they need any help with transportation. And hey, you could be your own version of the Pawlar Express for your community!
