Janine Brown faced her worst fear when she was in a car accident that caused her dog to break free from the vehicle and escape. Her Christmas Eve was spent recovering from injuries related to this traffic accident, and having to put her trust in the community to help bring her beloved companion home.
Janine Brown and her dog, Mya Angel, were involved in a traffic accident close to home on December 24th. The crash left Janine and her dog pinned in the vehicle, and required emergency assistance to help break them free.
“She told them as they were taking dog out, the dog is friendly but she kind of runs. Janine could see the dog starting to buck and she tried to say something but they had to cut everything out the car to get her out.” – Janine’s friend, Julie Kelsey
In the stress of the situation, Mya broke free and ran away from the scene of the accident. Even though Janine was injured, she assisted the police in their initial search for the terrified pup, but unfortunately could not find her.
Since Janine suffered broken ribs from the crash, she had to rest while the community came together to help bring Mya home. The Clearwater community soon got to work on their search and turned to social media to help spread the message.
Once Mya’s photo was shared by Clearwater Police and Janine’s family, tips began to come in on her possible whereabouts. There were tips all over town from those who claimed to see her running around, and even those who were able to offer her food before she ran away.
“Sunday, we started getting reports she went across the bridge and that’s when I think Janine started to get a little discouraged.” – Julie Kelsey
Right when Janine was beginning to wonder if she would ever see her beloved Mya again, discouragement turned to joy when Mya Angel was found on the Monday morning following Christmas. Mya had been found by locals that were involved in the search, and was actually found near a town home in which she used to live.
“Janine had me pull into her garage, she shut it and got out and it was an emotional moment for them, everyone’s crying.” – Julie Kelsey
Mya was immediately rushed to her local vet where she was cleared of any major medical concerns. She was worn out and carried a few bumps and bruises but was otherwise fine.
“Janine said the one thing she’s seen is how people can come together and it’s so great with things that go on today, how people can come together.” – Julie Kelsey
Now that Mya is home, Janine can finally rest and recover from their traumatizing ordeal. Thank you to the Clearwater community for joining together and bringing this lovable pup home!
