Dogs consider their human family a pack, no doubt about it. But when your beloved pup starts getting a bit too protective of your baby, you might be concerned. But sometimes, there’s a good reason for it.
South Carolina couple Benjamin and Hope Jordan were looking for a babysitter to watch their 7-month-old son, Finn. Like any responsible parents, the Jordans took every precaution to ensure they chose the right childcare worker, even running a background check — which was clean — on 22-year-old Alexis Khan, whom they ultimately hired.
But even though the Jordans thought Khan was a good fit, their usually well-behaved family dog, Killian, started acting out in a way that suggested he knew something they didn’t.
Killian became especially protective of Finn, even growing aggressive toward the babysitter when she walked in the door, something he had never been known to do.
Benjamin and Hope decided to try and understand what their dog was trying to tell them…and it may have saved their son’s life.
After secretly recording the sitter one day, the horrified parents discovered that the woman they entrusted to care for their child had been slapping, cursing and yelling at the infant. The Jordans would have never discovered the awful truth were it not for Killian’s warnings.
The babysitter then plead guilty to assault and battery and will be serving up to 3 years in prison.
How amazing is it that this sweet, fiercely-protective dog was able to communicate to his humans that something was not right? Really an important story. If you think your dog’s sudden behavior change toward someone is telling a bigger story…it just might be. What do you think of the Jordans’ story?
