Effects of Salmonella Contamination

Salmonella can affect both humans and dogs. It can be spread between people and pets, or it can be spread through contaminated objects. Dogs not showing symptoms can still carry the bacteria and pass it on to others.

Pets with Salmonella may experience lethargy, diarrhea, fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, or a decreased appetite. The symptoms can get worse if left untreated.

Humans can experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. In rare cases, it could lead to conditions like arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, urinary tract infections, and eye irritation.

If any humans or pets are experiencing symptoms related to Salmonella, contact a medical professional right away. The sooner the issue is addressed, the better.
