In Orange County, Florida, the Shaw family got a small ray of sunshine following a heart-wrenching tragedy earlier this week.
Nineteen-year-old Sam Shaw was driving in his jeep with Taz, the family’s rescue dog, when he lost control and crashed the car — losing his life. The terrified pup fled the scene, and was nowhere to be found when the family got the terrible news.
Sam’s two older brothers printed out fliers and took to social media to spread word of the pup’s disappearance, and family and friends searched the area for two days.
Finally Steve Shaw, their father, received a call from a stranger saying that she’d found Taz outside her Valencia Community College classroom. Not wanting the pup to go to the shelter, she’d offered to take him in until his rightful owners were found.
Watch the bittersweet news story below:
Taz couldn’t contain his happiness when he was reunited with his family after the ordeal.
“It makes it sting a little less,” Mr. Shaw told Fox News in a tearful interview.
Our condolences go out to this family, and we hope that they’ll be able to find comfort and healing in each other.
