Orlando Bloom’s Poodle and constant companion, Mighty, had been missing for seven excruciating days. The actor took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce that Mighty was presumed dead. The heartbreaking news is difficult for Bloom to bear.
Mighty Went Missing For Seven Days
Orlando Bloom enlisted the help of his social media followers to find Mighty when the dog went missing in Montecito, California. He posted to Instagram, “MIGHTY IS MISSING. He is chipped and his collar has a number to call – if you take him to your local vet or shelter or police station he can be traced back to me for a reward. Please only send REAL INFO. My heart is already broken so please don’t add insult or injury.”
On the 7th Day, Mighty’s Empty Collar Was Found
Bloom exhausted every avenue available to find Mighty. He spent every day and night searching yard, storm drains, and streets. Mighty was nowhere to be found. On the 7th day of searching, Bloom found Mighty’s collar, empty. The dog has been presumed dead.
He said in an emotional Instagram post, “Mighty’s on the other side now. After 7 days of searching from sunrise to sunset and into the wee hours, today, the 7th day ~the number of completion~ we found his collar… “
“I have wept more this week than I thought possible, which has been very cathartic and healing… I left no stone unturned, crawled thru all the man holes, under the roads, searched every back yard and creek bed. Had two separate sniffer dogs do their best as well. I feel so grateful to have learned from my little Mighty man that love is eternal and the true meaning of devotion.”
“I feel sure he was looking down on me whistling in every back yard and knowing that I was doing all I possibly could to respect our bond. He was more than a companion. It was a soul connection for sure. I’m sorry. I love you. Thank you. RIP my MIGHTY HEART my little fellow A ♠️’s”
Mighty Memorialized with a Tattoo on Bloom’s Chest
In honor of Bloom’s love for Mighty, Bloom had a tattoo made of Mighty’s name and a heart with an ace symbol at the center placed right at his own heart. He posted a video of the art being inked into his skin by tattoo artist Scott Campbell as well as some photos and clips of his reaction immediately afterward. He is clearly grieving and devastated by the loss of his dog.
Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry Expecting First Child
Mighty’s passing comes at a difficult time for Bloom and his longtime significant other, pop star Katy Perry. The couple is expecting their first child in August. Further, Katy’s rescue cat Kitty Purry, recently crossed the rainbow bridge. The family will surely be snuggling close to Nugget, Perry’s Poodle and long time sidekick of Mighty.
Celebrities Offer Condolences to Bloom on IG
Orlando Bloom has had a long and distinguished career as an actor. Among many others, the actor starred in two powerhouse franchises: The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean. It comes as no surprise that a litany of celebrities offered Bloom their condolences via Instagram. Jennifer Aniston, who lost her treasured dog last year, Kate Hudson, and Josh Brolin were among those expressing sympathy to the grieving man.
Losing a pet is every bit as difficult as losing any other family member. Our hearts go out to Orlando Bloom as he learns how to live without his friend, Mighty.
