The Buzzfeed Puppy Interview is the pinnacle of every young celebrity dog lover’s career. However, one cherished dog dad was conspicuously missing from the lineup—until now!
That’s right! Dodger’s movie star papa, the one-and-only Chris Evans, finally filmed his own puppy interview to promote his upcoming animated feature, Lightyear. In true Evans fashion, he brought a little something extra to the table – adoptable puppies and senior dogs.
Evans becomes delightfully ditsy in the presence of puppies.
Chris Evans, or as you may know him, Captain America, is beloved for his acting chops and devotion to his rescue dog, Dodger (not necessarily in that order). Fans have long wondered when the famous pet lover would make his way to the Buzzfeed studios for his own puppy interview.
The opportunity finally arose on his promotion tour for the latest installment in the Toy Story franchise, Lightyear. Evans voices the title character, rookie astronaut Buzz Lightyear.
From the start of the interview, the actor is incredibly distracted. He’s barely able to absorb, let alone answer, the questions posed to him as a litter of black-and-tan puppies frolics around him. The pups gnaw, lick, wag, and yip all over Evans. In return, he showers them with belly rubs and affectionate nicknames.

Evans breaks the Buzzfeed mold.
The outspokenly adoring dog dad adopted Dodger when the pup was about two years old. So, it was important to him to highlight the benefits of choosing an older pet. Instead of the usual all-puppies-all-the-time format, Evans requested that his interview be conducted differently.
After the traditional five-minute puppy interview, Evans had the Buzzfeed crew bring in a few adoptable senior shelter dogs—something no other celeb has done on the segment before. He used this time to discuss how adopting an adult dog instead of a puppy changed his life for the better.
“I always thought when I adopted a dog or rescued a dog, it would be a little puppy, and Dodger was a full-grown dog,” Evans explained. “It wasn’t the story I had in my mind, but it ended up being the best decision of my life.”

The actor was clearly emotional as he described the plight of older dogs in shelters.
“I just think a lot of adult dogs and older dogs get overlooked and that’s a shame,” he said. “So let’s give them some love, too.”
He went on to say:
“They just have such a connection with whoever they’ve been around for a while. That’s what makes an older dog’s love so special. You gotta earn it.”
Evans can’t stop tweeting about the experience, and neither can his fans!
After the interview, Evans took to Twitter no fewer than three times to gush about the interview.
Puppy interview completed. No other interview will ever compare. I still smell like puppies.
(I don’t remember if I answered a single question. Got lost in puppy gazes)

I’m honestly worried that I didn’t answer ANY questions. All I remember is apologizing a lot for not paying attention. https://t.co/8CKUH8nOmP

Evans’ fans were just as excited about the long-anticipated interview. One praised him for powering through despite a particular puppy’s obsession with his “family jewels.” Another even credited him with improving her mental health!
