When his military father, Devin Ekstom, was away for basic training for ten weeks, 2-year-old Indus, a Husky/Malamute/Timber Wolf mix, hadn’t seen him in 10-weeks. Ekstom was able to come home for the holidays, but Indus had no idea that his human would be returning home to surprise him.

At his parent’s house in Northwood, New Hampshire, Devin’s wife, Morgan, caught the surprise reunion on video and it will make you cry. Indus turns around to see who he thinks is a stranger approaching up his driveway and begins to bark at him. However, as he approaches him and gets a whiff of his scent, he recognizes that this isn’t a stranger but rather his father.

Indus immediately attacks him and smothers him with kisses when he identifies him. He circles around while wagging his tail, unable to contain his joy. While ten weeks may not appear to be a long time for us, it felt like an eternity for Indus without his best buddy, Devin. He was just as delighted to see his best friend again and said that the love Indus had shown him during their reunion made him feel wonderful and overwhelmed with happiness.
