Lana was once a stray, but was rescued from a life on the streets by Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé Luiz. She now lives in a loving home with the people who care for her, but she has proven that she hasn’t forgotten what it was like to have nothing.
Lana’s family recently gave her a new, warm blanket to keep her comfortable while sleeping in her dog house. Lana spent Monday night with her new blanket in the enclosed yard, and Sunday morning went the same as usual until Luiz stepped outside to leave for work.
Although unable to leave the yard, Lana found a way to share her blanket with a dog who had nothing. The other dog is a stray that Suelen says she had seen before. The dog is skittish and runs away when she approaches, but Lana was able to make a friend out of him! In a purely generous act, Lana took her blanket to the gate and passed enough through to give the other dog a little warmth in the cold. The two dogs were found exactly as they are in the photo – curled up on the same blanket on opposite sides of the gate.
The dog ran off again when Suelen attempted to check it for I.D., but she hopes that he might return so that she can help him find his way home. With a friend like Lana, he may show up again soon!
It’s said that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Lana’s amazing act of compassion is a wonderful reminder that a small kindness can make a big difference, even if only for a moment – and every moment counts.
