Houston Astros Pitcher Uses His Twitter To Reunite Lost Senior Dog With Family

We love when athletes aren’t afraid to show their soft spots for animals. They are wonderful examples to the people who look up to them, and use their fame as a platform to help our four-legged friends.

Lance McCullers Jr., pitcher for the Houston Astros, is one of those people. And, it seems, that the animals can sense his big heart, too! So when an older Golden Retriever lost her way, she went right to the McCullers’ home as if she knew he would help!

The athlete invited the pup inside, and took to social media to help her reunite with her family. He posted on Twitter:

“Pls RT!! [Please retweet!!] This sweetie ran up to our house in the village. Fem golden w/ TCU collar. We are taking care of her, let me know if u recognize.”

According to a story by abc 13, the dog found her family in less than an hour.

This “golden girl” is far from the first pooch that McCullers has helped. In fact, he frequently posts photos of shelter dogs on his Twitter page in order to help them find forever homes.

When he’s not striking out batters on the field, Lance lends his fame to help dogs through his own foundation: Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation — which as his site says, “aims to invest time and resources into the promotion of pet adoptions, raising awareness for shelters and programs, and continuing the journey to a no-kill world.”

Way to go, Lance McCullers Jr. – we’re certainly fans!
