A stray dog named Stephan was found trapped in the middle of a highway. It looked like he had been hit by a car because he was unable to move and he was frozen in fear. He had nowhere to go and no one to look out for him, so he thought his life was over.
Luckily, Sidewalk Specials, a dog rescue in South Africa, rushed to save Stephan. He had a lot of medical concerns that needed to be addressed, but the rescue quickly learned that he was a sweet puppy. He just needed someone to show him some kindness.
Stephan’s Recovery
Poor Stephan looked like he had been alone on the highway for a while. He had protruding ribs and he growled whenever someone approached him, but it was clear that he couldn’t escape. So, he was rushed to Vet Point so they could address his medical concerns. He whined and nipped at his rescuers, but they didn’t stop trying to save him.
The poor pup was diagnosed with a concussion, which explained why he was having such a hard time standing. He was also diagnosed with tick fever and anemia. Therefore, he was in a lot of pain and not willing to trust anyone just yet.
The vets provided Stephan with the meds he needed and they made sure to give him plenty of love and care. Thankfully, many people also sent in donations to help fund Stephan’s recovery. He still has a lot of healing to do, but he’s doing so much better. Now, he can walk and run around just like any other dog.
Help Stephan Find a Home!
As Stephan heals, he’s also learning other essential things, such as love and trust. He’s about 8 months old, and the rescue says that he’ll probably be fairly small once he’s full-grown. Things are finally looking up for Stephan, but the one thing he still needs is a forever home.
The South Africa rescue still has a lot to learn about Stephan, but they’re confident that his perfect family is out there. So far, they’ve discovered that he’s a playful pup that seems to get along with other dogs. They also think he’d enjoy being around cats and children, but he hasn’t interacted with any cats yet. He also needs his future family to be patient because he still has some recovering to do.
If you would like to give Stephan a home, please contact Sidewalk Specials. However, if you are unable to provide a home for this sweet pup, you should consider donating to fund his recovery and the recoveries of other dogs in their care. There are so many dogs in need of help out there, so this rescue truly saves lives.
