Mayhew Speaks up

For years, Markle has worked with Mayhew, an animal welfare organization in London. Even after she moved to California with her family, Markle continued to help the charity in any way possible. She has become close to the staff at Mayhew over the years, so they know how much she truly loves animals.

Caroline Yates, the CEO of Mayhew, spoke up about Markle’s relationship with her rescue dogs. Guy and Pula might not be in the spotlight often, but they have an important role in Markle’s life.

“Whenever we talk to the Duchess about the charity, she always references how important her dogs are and what a support they are, particularly during everything that’s happened this year, with COVID, and with the personal trials and tribulations she went through this year,” Yates said.

It’s suspected that the “trials and tribulations” Yates mentioned were related to Markle’s miscarriage. It is a heartbreaking personal matter, so of course, she needed her beloved dogs to comfort her.

Two Special Dogs

Markle has been working with Mayhew even more during the coronavirus. The organization has struggled more than ever to find funding amid the pandemic after having to cancel fundraising events. But Markle’s passion has helped them during these difficult times.

“It was really nice to share our experiences with her about how important animals are when things are tough and what a comfort they can be. That’s what Mayhew is all about, that’s what we want to try and encourage, we want to try to promote the human-animal bond and what a great source of comfort and stimulation, and joy pet ownership can be,” Yates said.

It’s clear that Guy and Pula are both important family members. Sources say they’re very close to Archie, the couple’s son. The two pups also made an appearance in the family’s beautiful Christmas card this year, which was shared by Mayhew.

Even celebrities can have hardships. They’re people just like we are, so it’s important they have a way to feel comforted and loved too. For Markle, her rescue dogs help her through lots of hard times. And because of their love, she will continue to help other dogs in need. That’s what true love is all about.
