Lisa Chiarelli, with Frankie Lola and Friends rescue, heard about a Pit Bull that was dumped in the middle of the woods. Luckily, Lisa and the other volunteers tracked her down. The dog, later named Nikki, took one look at the strangers and took off. She was petrified! Humans had only let her down before.

The rescuers set up a trap and hung back. Nikki sniffed around the cage. Lisa’s heart raced! She could hardly breathe! The hungry dog inched inside slowly toward the food. When the trap door slammed shut, Lisa could finally exhale. The pup was safe!

Dogs are generally petrified when they hear that door slam and cower into a corner, but not this pup. Nikki was beyond starving and continued to eat. Lisa approached the cage and was in for a surprise! Nikki was actually HAPPY! She wagged her tail and smiled. Lisa put her hand in the cage and got kisses of gratitude.

The clever girl knew she was saved! To go from distrusting humans, for good reason, to this- and so quickly– was a miracle! Once at the vet, the doctor told Lisa that Nikki’s ears had been crudely cut at home by a heartless individual.

Nikki eventually transitioned into a foster home and attended adoption events, but people weren’t interested. Her ears were such a turn-off that no one cared to bring her home! Devastating! But this pup’s story is far from over. Click play on the video below to see Nikki’s rescue story.

When a Pit Bull was brought to the shelter, she was shivering 24 hours a day. She had a foul putrid odor emanating from her delicate skin, which was inflamed due to mange. Her swollen feet were filled with staph infection, and her gritty eyes were clogged with infectious goop. Given her condition, it was likely that she would have to be euthanized. The shelter never gave the dying Pit Bull a name, and she spent most of her time hidden in the back of her lonely cage. A woman named Audra Spurio arrived one day to adopt a canine companion for her 2-year-old daughter Gigi.

The Pit Bull believed she was undetectable to the rest of humanity, but Gigi pointed at her and cried out:

“Mommy, that one.“

Gigi pulled on Audra’s coat until she brought her to the pitiful Pit Bull, where Gigi was overwhelmed with compassion and pet her gently. Even after Audra showed other dogs to Gigi, the youngster returned 3 times to the sick Pittie and eventually pleaded, “Let the dog out, need help” The shelter team took her out of the kennel, cleaned her up, and let her play with Gigi in the yard.

The pair instantly got along amazingly well as they played together for hours. The Pit Bull would always stick to Gigi, and Gigi would keep reminding Audra that the “ill dog” needed assistance.

Audra sobbed for her mother to assist the pup as the Pit Bull continued to shake violently every time she was separated from Gigi. Audra gave in to Gigi’s heartfelt pleas and brought home Scarlett, a Pit Bull that she named after Scarlett O’Connor. The ill dog was finally able to go home once it arrived at the shelter!

Ron Williams, at the seasoned age of 84, found himself in a perilous situation that he never anticipated. On a day like any other, he had finished his shower and was about to step out when he suddenly lost his footing and slipped. The hours ticked by, each one seeming longer than the last, and after an agonizing 18-hour stretch, a memory sparked in Ron’s mind that led to his salvation.

Throughout his years with his cat, Fluffy, Ron developed a unique bond with his feline companion. It was not just an emotional connection; there was a particular trick that they had learned together.
