You Helped This Dog Recover After Being Shot And Abandoned

When you purchase items from the iHeartDogs store, a portion of that profit is donated to an incredible organization called Greater Good. Greater Good works hard to help many dogs in need. Thanks to loyal customers like you, lots of dogs get a second chance at life all because of these donations. Dusty is just one of the many dogs that has benefitted from Greater Good!

When Dusty was a 6-month-old puppy, she was not treated with respect. She was found extremely wounded and in desperate need of medical attention. She had been shot 3 times: once above her eye, once in her ear, and once on her back leg.

The person responsible for this horrific crime had just left the sweet little pup to die. Dusty was found in a tiny wire crate that was designed for a 10-pound dog, not a 30-pound Pit Bull puppy. It’s difficult to imagine why anyone would do such an unforgivable thing to a kind, innocent dog.

Luckily, the Okmulgee County Humane Society came to the rescue. They rushed her to surgery, where they had to remove one of her eyes and several teeth. It was a long healing process for the young puppy, but she was determined to never give up.

Throughout her time at the humane society, Dusty had to go to many vet appointments. Luckily, she had a loving foster home to stay at while she healed. Her foster parents got to see how kind and playful she was throughout the whole healing process. In fact, she’s such a loving dog that you’d never even know she was mistreated in the past!

As Dusty reached the end of her recovery, many kind families were interested in adopting her. The humane society staff looked through the applications carefully to find the home that was most suitable for this special pup. Sure enough, they chose the perfect forever home for Dusty.

Now, Dusty has the kindest mom ever who spoils her as much as possible. She also has an older sister named Bianca who always protects her. She is now full-grown, weighing about 62 pounds! Her life started out rough, but now, she’s living the dream!

“If it were not for GreaterGood.org’s Rescue Bank, I know our organization would go broke trying to feed the many dogs and cats we rescue every day,” wrote Okmulgee County Humane Society. “With the money we save from Rescue Bank donations, we can get more dogs and cats spayed or neutered and ready for adoption.”

Thanks to purchases from the iHeartDogs store, many dogs like Dusty get a second chance at a happy life. iHeartDogs sells a wide selection of products for both you and your dogs. Every purchase can save a dog’s life, so thank you to all the amazing people who have purchased items to help dogs in need!
