The holidays may be over but one adorable little guy is still hoping for one last gift. Houdini is a 3-year-old Husky who is every bit as adventurous as he is adorable. Sadly, Houdini has been waiting at the San Diego County Department of Animal Services shelter in Carlsbad for over a year.
What’s even worse? He’s had SIX families! Some of them only lasted a few days.
Houdini isn’t a bad boy. After all, could anyone that cute really be bad? He’s just a little complex, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from being loved.
Think of all the cute and complicated ex-boyfriends (or girlfriends) you once loved. Houdini is like them, but way better… because he’s a dog. And cuter. And your friends will actually like him. Plus, he won’t make you watch football every Sunday.
“He just needs a patient, compassionate new owner that is willing to commit to addressing his special needs,” Kelly Campbell, Director of the Department of Animal Services, told NBC 7.
If You Were Once Fueled By Aqua Net And MTV, Houdini May Be Your Man
So what’s wrong with Houdini, you ask? Nothing! He’s just a very “extreme” Husky. It may help if you think of him as a “highly concentrated” Husky.
Houdini loves to exercise his vocal range, has high energy, lots of hair (that sheds), and a short fuse in terms of patience. In other words, he’s looking for one of you ladies of the 80s. Houdini is basically the canine version of Axl Rose. With a little bit of practice, he may even be able to serenade you with a howling rendition of “November Rain.”
“We truly believe he has the potential to be an amazing addition to the family, if he could only find his perfect, devoted companion,” Campbell added.
She also pointed out that Houdini has an “uncanny ability to escape” which is how he got his name.
Houdini would be perfect for someone with a lot of patience and a large and well-enclosed backyard. Bonus points if you’re also a runner. Houdini will love the exercise and you’ll love the security of having a seemingly intimidating dog by your side – nobody needs to know that he’s really a fluff ball of love!
But Wait! There’s More!
Houdini already knows commands, but we can all keep learning, right? The county animal shelter is even offering a trainer to work with Houdini and his new, truly furever family.
