Being an animal rescuer can be incredibly rewarding, but also one of the most challenging endeavors you can explore. Luckily for this rescue founder, she received a well-deserved surprise that would improve her rescue ability for years to come!
Sherri Stankewitz found her passion for animal rescuing when she noticed how many stray animals she passed as she drove through downtown Los Angeles each day. After the first time she pulled over to rescue an abandoned pup, it was clear that she was made for this work.
As the years passed, Sherri created the West Coast Animal Rescue (WeCARe) to assist the many stray or abandoned pets in the Long Beach area. Her rescue has up to 75 dogs at any given time, making it essential to find homes for each of these furry friends in order to bring in more.
In order to find homes for the many dogs that cross Sherri’s path, she hosts multiple adoption events throughout the city to show off her clan of deserving pups. This incredible prank took place at an adoption event that seemed like any other, but Sherri was in for an incredible surprise from the Prank it FWD (Prank it Forward) team.
Sherri and her rescue volunteers were set up and ready to find homes for the 30 adoptable dogs they brought along that day. Though they had high hopes of finding homes for at least a few, Sherri become nervous when absolutely no one showed up for the event.
To make matters worse, an “agent” soon showed up from the “Pet Investigation Foundation” with a complaint about how many animals she had on the property. The Prank it FWD actor told her she would have to find homes for every single animal within the next hour, or he would be back to seize each one. Absolutely panicked, Sherri began to scramble for ways that she could get her and her furry friends out of this mess!
Little did she know, her good friend Susan and the Prank it FWD team were ready to pull up with the gift of a lifetime!
Since nobody showed up to the adoption event to visit any of the adoptable pups, the Prank it FWD actor showed up one hour later to collect each of Sherri’s rescues. Though Sherri immediately panicked when he pulled up with a large van big enough to take each dog, she soon learned that this was not at all what it looked like.
Out from the van came Sherri’s good friend Susan and the actor with the Prank it FWD team. They then told Sherri that every single dog at this event had been pre-placed in a forever home. Not only did they find homes for each of her rescues at the adoption event, but each of these adopters were hiding inside the van as well!
The adopters soon made their way out of the van and into the event to meet their new furry family members. Sherri got to witness 30 of her beloved pups go off to their forever homes, some of which had been living at her rescue for years.
Not only did so many of her dogs receive their happy ending that day, but Sherri was also informed that this mysterious van was a gift to her and the WeCARe team. She now had a van that could be used to travel to each of her upcoming adoption events, making it possible to care for even more pups than before!
