Police Rush To Save Drowning Dog From Frigid Waters

Tinkerbell Drowning Rescue

Dogs often get themselves into unfortunate situations out of curiosity. And in extreme cases, those mistakes could be life-threatening. That’s why it’s always heartwarming to know that there are kind people who won’t hesitate to help a dog in need.

It’s unclear how a brindle dog named Tinkerbell ended up nearly drowning, but she was terrified and confused. She might not have survived if the New York City Police Department (NYPD) hadn’t spotted her and saved the day. If it weren’t for them, she wouldn’t be back in a warm, loving home today.

Swimming to Survive

NYPD Harbor Unit officers were patrolling the waters when they spotted an unusual sight. A dog was trapped in the freezing water of Jamaica Bay, trying her best to stay afloat. The officers didn’t take this lightly, so they sprung into action.

Officers rushed to the scared pup’s side and pulled her out of the water. They dried her off and wrapped her in a warm blanket. Then, they rushed her to the vet to make sure she didn’t sustain any injuries or illnesses.

Thankfully, they found out that the dog was healthy despite the traumatic situation. Within two hours, they were in contact with the pup’s family, who was relieved to hear that their furry friend was safe and sound.

Home at Last!

In an update post, officers revealed that the drowning dog’s name is Tinkerbell. They still didn’t explain how Tinkerbell ended up in the frigid waters, but it’s clear that her family loves her, especially since they rushed to pick her up and bring her home.

“A happy ending to a cold wet morning. After failing her physical for the #SCUBA Team, Tinkerbell has been reunited with her owner Jason,” NYPD wrote on Twitter.

Tinkerbell is now back in her loving home. Her family says she’s looking forward to napping for a while. Her family even shared an adorable photo of her curled up on a pillow and getting some well-deserved rest.

“Thank you so much! We are so grateful! She is happy to be at home,” Karen Dublin, Tinkerbell’s mom, commented on Twitter.

This curious pup had quite the adventure, but thanks to quick-thinking officers, she’s as happy and safe as can be. From now on, her family will keep a closer eye on her to make sure no more instances like this happen again. It’s great to see that Tinkerbell has a loving home to return to!
