20 Best Foods for Rottweiler with Diarrhea

Had to put my pup on purina puppy chow and added chicken and rice that I cook over top. Went thru every high dollar food available. It was darn scary day after day. First bag of Puppy chow he was better. Second day it was gone

I had the same problem. After taking everything but water away for 24 hours. I began feeding boiled burger or chicken with rice until the diarrhea subsided. I then slowly added lamb and rice until rice and boiled burger was gone. They now eat a consistent diet of lamb and rice with pumpkin (cannot be pumpkin pie mix). They don’t have diarrhea and they are very happy and healthy! Good luck and stay the course. It’s a process.

Mine has the doggie equivalent of celiac. No wheat for her at all. Treats are dehydrated sweet potatoes that I make for her. Do boiled chicken and brown rice to get it calmed and then you may need Royal Canin HP food.

Yes our rottie too couldn’t tolerate many different brands..except Rachel Ray, chicken and veggies, everything else gave her loose stools, diarrhea..sometimes I do add some rice to her food or pumpkin..and if your dog has diarrhea again, boiled chix and rice, always plain! Good luck!

Mine couldn’t eat anything with chicken in it. Finally found one that Tractor Supply sells. It’s called 4 Health. The diarrhea and vomiting stopped.

We have the same issue with our Rottie with diarrhea and occasionally vomiting (with loud stomach noises). We tried several different foods along with probiotics. I finally met with a holistic vet and we did some tests (fecal/microbiome/detailed hair analysis). We changed her food to farmers dog turkey recipe and supplements. She hasn’t had an issue since we changed to a human grade cooked food diet and supplements recommended by our holistic vet. There are a lot of environmental issues that affect them as well which is what the detailed hair analysis showed (toxins).

It helps to give his stomach a rest from all the kibble and or canned food that has to work hard to digest it. Try giving him just plain boiled chicken and rice and maybe canned pumpkin. Start out with a little pumpkin if your dog is not used to it. Give that to him/her for a couple days see if that clears it up. Dogs are sneaky. They get into gosh who knows when we’re not looking. We can’t watch them 247. As long as he’s not throwing up also, the diarrhea should clear up. If it doesn’t, a trip to the vet should be planned. The digestion system definitely needs a rest. Make sure he/she drinks plenty of water. Diarrhea dehydrates the body. Good luck!

If your dog has diarrhea give him some Pumpkin and it will firm up his stool. I raised Rottweilers and had them for 40 years and everyone was raised on Purina Puppy Chow the original one. and then at two they went to the dog chow. I had beautiful coats of two of them were show dogs with many wins under their belt.

The only food we found that didn’t give Tank diarrhea is the Rachel Ray Nutrish beef pea and brown rice. He can’t have chicken or anything bird because it gives him goopy eyes. We have tried every brand! It took forever with many trips to the vet.
