When it comes to anything dog-related for Miranda Lambert, it’s go big or go home. So, she soon realized that her beloved dog Waylon, who passed away earlier this month, deserved a beautiful tribute more abiding than an Instagram post. With the help of celebrity stylist Tiffany Gifford, Lambert found the perfect way to help Waylon’s legacy live on.
Lambert decided that planting a tree was the perfect way to honor Waylon’s life. It will be a memory of him that she will always be able to visit, and it will have a positive effect on the environment. What better way to show her late pup some love?
Waylon’s Legacy
When Waylon first passed away, Lambert turned to Instagram to let her emotions out. She posted beautiful pictures of him at all ages and reminded friends of his inspiring story. When Waylon and his sister Jessi were just puppies, they were found abandoned on the side of the road in critical condition. Vets thought Waylon wouldn’t make it, but he lived on for 13 years, which is a long, happy life for a Golden Retriever.
Stories like Waylon’s are one of the main reasons that Lambert is so passionate about saving dogs in need. Waylon was a rescue, and she helped give him the long, perfect life he deserved. So, she was emotional and heartbroken when she finally had to say goodbye. Thankfully, many friends of Lambert stepped forward to send their condolences.
But even after putting her heart and soul into her social media post, Lambert knew there was more she could do to honor Waylon. So, she decided to help add more life to this world after his loss.
One Special Tree
About 2 weeks after her initial Instagram post, Lambert turned to her Instagram story to share updates on her tribute to Waylon. She shared two photos: one of a small, beautiful tree and another of an ornament dedicating the tree to Waylon. The newly planted tree is at her Tennessee farm so she can see it as much as she wants. She also tagged Gifford in the post as a thank you.
“Planted this tree at the farm for our sweet dog Waylon that we lost,” Lambert wrote in a caption.
The ornament hanging on the tree says, “Your Paws Left Prints On Our Hearts WAYLON.” That caption alone is enough to make any dog lover teary-eyed. Many of us can closely relate to Lambert’s loss, and as hard as it is to lose a dog, it always feels better when you find meaningful ways to honor that family member’s life. Now, with this beautiful tree growing on her property, Lambert will always have a piece of Waylon with her.
