March 2022

On his way home from work, Rico Soegiarto saw a dog half-buried in the road in Denpasar, Bali. She was severely malnourished, had wounds all over her body, and was completely hairless.

She was a Siberian Husky, but she looked so terrible that you couldn’t tell. Rico took one look at this poor dog and determined he must save her.

Rico already had four rescue dogs at home, but he fell in love with this pup the moment he set eyes on her. He chose the name Hope because of her bright blue eyes, which glowed with hope despite her horrible condition.

Rico found Hope and brought her home, and her recovery began. To assist her fur regrow, Rico gave her a lot of medication baths and ate a lot of food for weight gain. Nurseing Hope back to health was an incredible job by Rico.

You’re about to read a story about one smart pup. His name is Jackson and THIS is his story!

After rescuing a 3-year-old dog named Jackson from the shelter, Dan Moore became his owner. Moore saved Jackson by taking him in and training him every day. In only a month, Moore had him trained to do something mind-boggling! Every passerby saw Jackson and wanted this dog for themselves – a dog that no one else was interested in just a month ago.

After that, he tried to walk around with him in busy areas so that he could work with him while getting acclimated to the noise and distractions. He had Jackson sit and remain for a while. Then he had him sit and stay for longer. After that, he sent away while walking away from him.

He did it over and over again UNTIL Jackson was able to be left alone long enough for Moore to do his shopping.

Hypoallergenic Dog Breeds

Some dog lovers have the misfortune of being allergic to the animals they adore, and because of this, some people have developed hypoallergenic dog breeds. These breeds may not be 100% allergen-free, but they certainly make life easier for those living with allergies. With so many to choose from, we’ve compiled a list of the most popular hypoallergenic dog breeds.

#1 – Poodle

Small Poodles running

Whether you’re looking for a small dog or a larger companion, the Poodle is a great choice for someone with allergies. They come in both the large standard and small toy sizes, and both variations sport the minimally shedding coat that makes them ideal for allergy sufferers. They’re also very intelligent dogs that are easy to train and make excellent family pets.

#2 – Maltese

Fluffy Maltese in grass

These small white dogs make great family companions and have a much more hair-like coat than fur. Maltese also shed very little and are therefore a great choice for those looking for a hypoallergenic dog. Their size and docile temperaments make them one of the most popular breeds chosen by allergy sufferers.

#3 – Bichon Frise

Hypoallergenic Bichon Frise

The soft, almost non-shedding coat of the Bichon Frise makes the breed an excellent choice for those looking to curb their allergies. They are small dogs with huge personalities, and they are an excellent choice for individuals or families with children. And best of all? They are super simple to train.

#4 – Labradoodle

Hypoallergenic Poodle mix dog

The Labradoodle is a created hypoallergenic breed made by crossing Labrador Retrievers and Standard Poodles. Although not all specimens of this breed are hypoallergenic, some of them do share the same qualities as their Poodle ancestors and are a great choice for those looking to avoid heavy shedding.

#5 – Havanese

Havanese puppy

Havanese are happy, silly dogs with silky coats. Their hair is light with minimal shedding, so their coats can grow out as much as you’d like. Most owners keep this breed’s hair short to limit the risk of allergies and make brushing sessions easier.

#6 – Portuguese Water Dog

Group of Wheaten Terriers

Wheatens are named for their soft coats that resemble hair more than fur. They shed very little and are therefore considered to be a hypoallergenic breed. They are popular among allergy sufferers not only because of their hypoallergenic features, but because they make great family companions as well.

#8 – Chinese Crested

When Drew Harrisberg went to the shelter to adopt a dog, he discovered that the dog he had his eye on had been taken. As a result, he decided to look at the other dogs in the facility. That’s when a peculiar noise caught his attention.

He heard what he refers to as a pig-seal squeal. Drew turned around to discover that the sound was, in fact, emitted by a Pit Bull mix named Dennis, who for some reason was ecstatic to see him.

He instantly fell in love with the dog, and he was powerless to stop himself. He had to have this squealing, talkative dog. Dennis was already booked into adoption by someone else as fate would have it. So Drew came up with another plan: foster Drew for the two weeks prior to his adoption going through.

Despite the fact that the shelter warned Drew that he would become attached to Dennis, he still decided to foster him. The shelter was correct; Dennis turned out to be a chatter-box, and Drew became instantly devoted to him. So much so that when it was time for Drew to return, he didn’t have the heart to do so.

A couple driving down a highway near Oviedo, Florida, came upon something that made them come to a halt. They saw a dog walking along the side of the road without knowing where he was heading and nearly colliding with traffic. They abruptly pulled over and went to see if everything was all right with the animal. Meet Lucky, THIS is his INCREDIBLE story and happy ending!

Image/Story Source Credit: YouTube/Scoop

They were taken aback by his physical condition. He had severely matted fur that restricted his mobility and concealed much of his face, so he couldn’t see where he was going and almost got hit. He was barely responsive and appeared to have been abandoned and neglected for the most part of his life.

The pair was unable to leave him there. As a result, they elected to take him with them in the vehicle. However, because they were unable to care for him over the night, they issued an appeal on social media – which was answered by groomer Kari Falla.

When a dog’s coat is matted to the point that blood flow is restricted, as well as bruising, it can happen. Kari recognized she couldn’t wait till the following day to assist him when she saw him in such terrible condition.

Oscars dog adoption

There has been a lot of talk about the 2022 Oscars, but sadly, many people seemed to forget about a wonderful moment involving Jamie Lee Curtis. The actress came on stage for a Betty White tribute, and she had a tiny rescue dog named Mac & Cheese with her.

Since Betty White was a huge animal advocate, Curtis used that moment to encourage more people to adopt dogs in need like Mac & Cheese. But little did she know, someone had already fallen in love with the rescue pup while she was backstage. Sometimes you meet the perfect dog for you when you least expect it!

A Heartfelt Oscars Moment

Curtis was proud to share kind words about the late Betty White. The iconic actress passed away shortly before her 100th birthday, but her legacy has lived on through animal welfare. Many people have donated to animals in need and adopted pets in her honor. So, Curtis talked about White’s love for rescue animals while holding Mac & Cheese on stage.

“Day in and day out for almost a century, she was a woman who cared so much for not just her two-legged friends but for animals just like this,” Curtis said. “So, the greatest gift you could give Betty White is to open your heart and your home and adopt a rescue dog just like Mac & Cheese from (the nonprofit organization) Paw Works.”

Throughout the night, Curtis posted lots of photos of her holding Mac & Cheese. But at one point, she also showed a heartwarming picture of John Travolta cuddling with the tiny pup. He got to meet her shortly before he gave the award for best actor. Little did Curtis know that interaction would lead to a forever home for the dog.

Mac & Cheese Finds the Perfect Home!

A day after the Oscars aired, Curtis announced that Travolta and his son decided to adopt Mac & Cheese. She and Travolta both posted a photo of the pup with her new family. Curtis said this adoption is a perfect example of what White would’ve wanted.

“I thought it was so beautiful to see him with her, and then today I found out that he and his son, Ben, have adopted beautiful little Mac & Cheese and are taking her home today. It is an emotional end and a perfect tribute to Betty White,” Curtis wrote on Instagram.

Mac & Cheese will join the two other pets in Travolta’s family: a Poodle mix named Jinx and a cat named Crystal. She is such a lucky pup, but there are still millions of homeless animals out there. So, if you’re looking to honor Betty White, consider adopting an animal in need. If you’re unable to do that, other methods like fostering, volunteering, donating, and spreading the word can all make a huge difference too!

Dogs can sense time of day and are usually pretty accurate when it comes to a consistent routine. Once the sun hits a certain point, or a dog can sense enough time has passed, he or she will then take notice and get ready to respond appropriately.
