Dogs can do anything they set their minds to, and for some dogs, that means becoming an artist. Several dogs have mastered the skill of creating gorgeous abstract art. At first glance, you may even mistake it for the work of a human painter.
To make their talents even more meaningful, a group of canine artists is auctioning off their masterpieces for a good cause. In an annual event, several dogs sell their artwork to raise money for three-legged animals. The artists are currently hard at work preparing their pieces for the 2022 auction.
Cute Paintings and a Good Cause
Every year, the Tripawds Foundation hosts a dog painting auction. The organization raises money to provide resources for pets missing legs. While most of the pets in need are dogs and cats, they help a wide range of tripod animals, even horses!
“The Tripawds Foundation is a U.S. (Texas) based nonprofit 501c3 public charity. Auctions help keep many free pet amputation resources online, and fund important assistance programs to help amputee pets and their people,” the organization wrote on their website.
For the 2022 auction, 20 dogs are submitting their artwork. Some of the canine artists include a blind Coton de Tulear named PeekaBoo and a German Shepherd named Schultz who uses creative paintbrushes. Each dog has a unique style, but most results are colorful and abstract.
The 2021 auction helped raise about $3,000 for the organization. Some of the paintings sold for around $300 each. Dog lovers can’t resist having a piece that’s painted by someone’s pup!
This event was inspired by a tripod dog named Kaiserin. Kaiserin loved painting, so she created many masterpieces before she passed away from cancer recently. The organization wants other three-legged dogs to live life to the fullest like she did.
How to Buy a Canine Masterpiece
Many dogs have already prepared their art, but the auction hasn’t opened yet. People can start bidding on the artwork on May 27th, 2022. Then, the auction will continue until June 5th.
All the pieces that will be auctioned this year are of varying sizes and colors. So, every dog lover is sure to find something that would look great in their home. Each painting will even have a special name by the time it’s put up for auction.
