It’s officially one of our favorite times of the year! It’s the time when we get to see all the adorable action of Animal Planet’s annual Puppy Bowl. The dogs are divided into two teams, Team Ruff and Team Fluff, and the event features rescue pups from all across the country.
In this article, we will give you all the details of how you can tune in to the furry festivities.
The Puppy Bowl is a feel-good sporting competition that is always fun to watch and helps deserving dogs find forever homes. Not only is this the largest Puppy Bowl to date, with 122 puppies from 67 different animal rescues and shelters across the country competing, 11 of the pups have special needs.
Julius is a Dalmatian with hearing loss, Mykonos is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix with a cleft palate, and Marmalade is a Border Collie mix with sight and hearing impairments. Plus, Joey was born without front legs, and Stardust is missing an eye.
Also among the line-up of adorable athletes is a Beagle named June, who was rescued from the Envigo breeding facility in Virginia. Every single one of the pups are both adorable and adoptable.
But puppies aren’t the only animal that will leave you smiling while you watch. This canine competition also offers a kitten halftime show featuring felines from three different shelters.
Referee Dan Schachner will oversee all the action, and commentators Steve Levy and Taylor Rooks will make sure you can follow along with every minute of this endearing event.
How Can We Watch?
Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl airs on February 12 at two in the afternoon (EST). That’s four and a half hours before the Super Bowl kicks off on Fox. But the pre-programming coverage, including all the doggie details and profiles on the puppy players, starts at 1 pm (4 pm PST).
The Puppy Bowl will air on Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, and TBS simultaneously. Plus, you can stream it on Discovery+ and HBO Max.
While the teams are technically competing for the coveted “Lombarky Trophy” (plus the Most Valuable Puppy Award and the Underdog Awards), the real grand prize will be getting adopted by a loving forever family of their very own.
Will it be Team Ruff or Team Fluff who will win PUPPY BOWL XIX? You’ll just have to tune in this Sunday and see for yourself!
