Our canine companions and friendly felines aren’t the only animals that can form an incredible bond with us. Despite being larger than life, elephants are one of the amazing animals that often form deep connections with the humans who live near or take care of them.
One man who has befriended the gentle giants at Elephant Nature Park in Thailand was captured on video calling one by name and then being greeted with a family hug.
Not only are elephants known to be highly intelligent, but people fortunate enough to interact with the gentle giants often form friendships with them. This is absolutely true for this man who was captured on camera at the Elephant Nature Park. This incredible place is an elephant rescue and rehabilitation center in Northern Thailand.
The park has been involved in dozens of rescues and has created and cultivated a thriving elephant herd.
The elephants at the park have been rescued from different circumstances and in different conditions. While some arrive physically healthy, they were forced to endure awful, emotional abuse in their former lives. Others arrive with physical injuries, such as Kabu, who arrived handicapped, or Chana, who had a broken leg. Ploy Thong is blind.
But despite their mistreatment, many elephants still choose to bond with humans who treat them with love and respect.
Plenty of people have been enchanted by these elephants’ adorable behavior. This viral video has 7 million views and has received 33 thousand likes.
The video begins moments after the man calls out an elephant’s name. Then, you can hear lots of animal noises off the screen. He calls out their name again, and you can hear her respond with a super loud trumpet to her human friend. People chatter in the background as the man slowly makes his way towards the approaching elephants.
Then you see four big, beautiful elephants excitedly running towards him. They barely stop before barreling him over, but then, he opens his arms, and three of them sandwich him between them, and they walk together towards the camera. He looks so small standing next to them. It’s absolutely incredible to witness, and it’s seriously smile inducing to see.
It’s extremely obvious why so many animal lovers shared this sweet video. To see such large creatures showing such affection and knowing that they had endured mistreatment at the hand of other humans in the past makes it even more special.
