A national leader in the search-and-rescue (SAR) field, SDF also revolutionized the way search dogs are trained. Claudia Kawczynska: The pairing of Pluis Davern and Wilma Melville, which resulted in a program with a remarkable success rate for the SDF’s program, is one of the book’s most interesting stories. How would you explain it?
