In May of 2018, Greater Good partnered with Wings of Rescue and the Humane Society of Tulsa to transport over 200 cats and dogs. Volunteers loaded the plane with carriers filled with curious cats and canines. Their flight lasted under an hour and took them to Seattle’s Boeing Field. The cats and dogs were then taken other local shelters to wait for their furever families.
Four-Legged Friends Took Flight
Fawn was one of those lucky dogs who made the flight that Memorial Day weekend. She was a senior who had somehow ended up at Tulsa Animal Welfare. Luckily, Fawn had been rescued by the Humane Society of Tulsa in April of 2018. Fawn’s flight took her to Kitsap Humane Society in Washington where she was adopted just a few days later!
The family that fell in love with sweet Fawn had gone to the shelter that day to adopt a puppy. Plans changed once they caught a glimpse of this dazzling senior! Fawn had something special about her like she was just meant to be a part of their family. They said it was like she knew she was going home that day.
Fawn Found a Furever Family
Fawn immediately fell into place with her new family. She climbed into their SUV and put her head in her mom’s lap while she gladly accepted some belly rubs. Her family says that every day with her keeps getting better! They couldn’t imagine life without their sweet Fawn.
Nothing Is Slowing Down The Humane Society Of Tulsa
The Humane Society of Tulsa continues to do tremendous work for humans and fur babies alike. Recently, the shelter rescued and transported cats and dogs from flooding in Texas. They drove them to the airport and loaded them on a private flight bound for Oregon and Washington. Workers also cleared out the shelter back in June in order to make room for dogs that were victims of flooding. At that time, the Humane Society of Tulsa worked with other animal welfare agencies in the community to transport nearly 200 dogs to shelters in Chicago, Illinois. They have also taken dogs all the way to Virginia to find their new homes! The shelter does so much transporting that they have a “lifesaving van” that they have affectionately named Henry.
The Humane Society of Tulsa gives rescuing their all. They work alongside the Red Cross during natural disasters and they help law enforcement with hoarder situations. Not to mention, they do some really fun events like doghouse decorating contests and community barbecues to raise money! It doesn’t look like their efforts are slowing down anytime soon. Great job, Humane Society of Tulsa!
