Puppy Pilates Class Will Help Raise Money For Veterans In Need Of Service Dogs

What better way to exercise than to be surrounded by adorable dogs? Precision Pilates and NASM Personal Training in New York is hosting a special pilates event on October 27th. This pilates class allows you to play with puppies during your session. While that alone might sound exciting for animal lovers, the class is actually for a good cause as well. All earnings are donated to veterans that can’t afford to train a service dog.

Puppies and pilates are two great stress relievers. That is why many places have decided to host these puppy pilates sessions. All around the world, there have been sessions to raise money for animal rescues and service dogs. Luckily, there has been a lot of positive feedback from these types of events in the past.

At Precision Pilates, each person who signs up for puppy pilates is required to donate $25. This money goes to Clear Path for Veterans’ Canine Program. This program trains dogs to become service animals for veterans that have post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). All the puppies in this program are in training to be service dogs in the future.

Precision Pilates will be holding two puppy pilates sessions on Sunday, October 27th. The 10am session booked up quickly, so because of popular demand, they decided to add a noon session as well.

Service Dogs for Veterans

Even though many veterans need service dogs, they often have a difficult time receiving them due to the expenses. It costs at least $25,000 to train a puppy to become a service dog. Sadly, this means that many veterans don’t have enough money to get the service dogs that they need.

Terri Todd, the owner of Precision Pilates, has discussed how fantastic the response to puppy pilates has been. Ryan Woodruff, her son, is a US Marine Corps veteran as well as the Canine Program Director for Clear Path for Veterans. He has seen many cases of veterans being unable to afford a service dog. So, he and Todd wanted to do everything they could to help.

Clear Path for Veterans works hard to cover the costs of dog training for veterans. However, they can’t function without the help of donations. Not only can these dogs be trained to help veterans with PTSD, but they can also be trained to assist those suffering from traumatic brain injuries or military sexual trauma.

“We have done scientific research showing that our training model significantly reduces symptoms associated with PTSD, decreases stress, increases self-compassion, and improves their overall quality of life,” said Woodruff.

Woodruff was inspired to work with service dogs because of his own dog, Harley. She was a brave dog that helped him through life and allowed him to discover his passion for dog training.

If a veteran is in need of a service dog, then they deserve to receive one. Therefore, the puppy pilates at Precision Pilates is hoping to raise enough money to make a difference for some of the veterans out there. Feel free to check out the details on their Facebook page. Every donation helps!
