Subaru Promises To Continue Saving Overlooked Shelter Dogs

Subaru Underdogs

Last year, Subaru happily announced their second annual “Make a Dog’s Day” campaign. This year, they’ve vowed to keep the tradition alive. All throughout October 2021, Subaru is encouraging customers to adopt dogs in need, and they’re donating money to shelters for every pup adopted.

During this special time of year, Subaru focuses its advertising on helping animals rather than selling cars. Their current ad features “the Underdogs,” a group of rescue dogs that were harder to find homes for. This emotional ad proves that Subaru is more than just a car company. They also care about giving back.

How Will Subaru Save Dogs?

In the past, Subaru has donated over $30 million to shelters and rescues, and they’ve helped over 250,000 dogs find forever homes. They’re currently the largest corporate donor for the ASPCA.

This year, Subaru wants to continue doing everything they can for animal organizations. For every dog adopted from Subaru’s partner shelters in October 2021, Subaru will donate $100. Each of the 600 participating Subaru dealerships can donate up to $3,100.

“While we support efforts all year dedicated to the betterment of animals’ lives, in October, we make a concerted effort to help shelter pets—particularly the hard-to-adopt ones—find loving homes,” said Alan Bethke, senior vice president of marketing for Subaru of America.

To find out how you can participate in this wonderful adoption event, visit your local Subaru retailer for more details. They can tell you which dealerships and which shelters are participating.

Meet the Underdogs!

While all dogs deserve a loving forever home, there are some that need homes more than others. Special needs dogs, senior dogs, and stereotyped breeds are all overlooked at shelters, making it harder for them to get adopted. Subaru’s annual Make a Dog’s Day ad highlights several “Underdogs” to encourage people to consider adopting the overlooked pets.

Some dogs featured in this year’s video include Mavis Moon, a one-eyed dog who is deaf and has facial paralysis; Lola, a three-legged dog who has beaten cancer twice; and Cricket, who needs a wheelchair to improve his mobility. All of these dogs are beautiful in their own special ways.

Rescue dogs, especially underdogs, are the best companions anyone could ask for. They have so much love to give, and you could be saving lives by adopting them. So, consider adopting a dog from a participating shelter this month. But no matter what time of year you adopt a dog, you’ll still be making a difference.
