The Stairs family lived through their worst nightmare when their beloved dog, Chesney, went missing last week. What made this experience even more terrifying is the fact that Chez is blind and deaf. They immediately feared the worst.

Chez has been a member of the Stairs family for 14 years.  Now that he is well into his senior years, he has recently become blind and deaf. Chez has learned how to maneuver through life in his family home, but is quite helpless in other environments due to his ailments.

Being an older dog, Chez needs to go outside for bathroom breaks frequently. Late Sunday night, he insisted on being let outside. At this time, Melissa Stairs was unaware that their gate was left open earlier this evening when her children were playing in the yard. Before she knew it, Chez was gone.

The family franticly searched the streets of their neighborhood, looking in every direction that he could have gone. The night time hours made this even more challenging, and they were unable to find their sweet pup.

When morning came, they began recruiting their neighbors, and reaching out to their community to arrange search parties. Dozens of local citizens came to assist the Stairs family in their search efforts, as everyone just wanted to see Chaz arrive home safely.

One local even used his drone to assist in air searching, in an effort to cover more ground than they could on foot.

3 days passed, and Chez was still nowhere to be found. The Stairs family began to lose hope of ever being reunited with their very best furry friend. Just before they became entirely discouraged, they received an incredible phone call.

Chez had been found wondering the streets of a nearby neighborhood, and was brought in to a local animal clinic. Melissa Stairs rushed to the clinic, unaware of his status of health.

Luckily, the only illness that his endeavors seemed to cause was a slight fever, and a bit of overall weakness. The veterinarians are confident that with a couple weeks of antibiotics and TLC, he will be back to his normal self!

We are so happy to hear that with the efforts of their community, they were able to bring Chez to safety! When people come together, we can achieve great things. Enjoy all the welcome home cuddles, Chez! You sure do deserve it!
