In 2018, Rachael Ray had the 50th birthday to end all 50th birthdays. During a moment all of us could only dream of, she celebrated the big 5-0 with 50 adoptable puppies… on national TV! Ray barely looks a day over 30, so it’s hard to believe this milestone birthday happened 2 years ago already. The Rachael Ray show resurfaced clips from the event in honor of the show’s latest season.
During the chef and talk show host’s special 50th birthday episode, celebrity Chef Emeril and animal rights activist Beth Stern joined her on the stage with puppies in their arms. This was enough to thrill Ray, but it was only the beginning.
Next North Shore Animal League reps literally brought several wagons full of tiny, adoptable pups on to the set. Ray and her husband John Cusimano have a relationship with the rescue, and that’s where they found their Pit Bull Bella Boo Blue.
The North Shore Animal League said they rescued all of these little dogs in Ray’s honor. All of them were adoptable puppies, and the exposure likely got them adopted right away.
Ray and her husband consistently advocate for rescue dogs. With such a huge platform, using it to get animals adopted is a great move!
Ray choked up as she encouraged everyone watching to let a rescue animal into their lives forever.
“Nothing in the world would make every person on this stage happier than, if you’re watching, to give all these loving animals a home. You’ll live longer as humans and you’ll be better humans if you put an animal in your lives.”

Rachael Ray’s Relationship With Animal Rescue
Giving a platform to organizations like North Shore Animal League is just one way Ray gives back to animals in need. Ray and Cusimano have a thing for Pit Bulls and have rescued several. They recently said goodbye to beloved Isaboo, but fortunately welcomed Bella Boo Blue into their lives in Isaboo’s honor. She recently debuted on Ray’s show for the first time.
Through Ray’s pet food line Nutrish, millions of dollars have gone towards helping rescue animals in need. The funds pay for medical care, food, and other rescue expenses.
