Buffalo Bills Touchdowns Help Find Families For Shelter Dogs

Football fans, listen up! And you too, people who head out for shopping trips when you hear the Monday Night Football theme song come on. The Buffalo Bills are doing more than scoring touchdowns!

Bills General Manager Brandon Beane along with his wife Hayley are taking over a very important tradition in Upstate New York. Every touchdown made by the Buffalo Bills during a home game will become an adoption fee paid by the couple! That’s way better than six points on the board, in my humble opinion.

This program was started by Stephen Hauschka, former Bills kicker, and his wife Lindsey. Back then, it was known as “Hauschpups.” Hauschka and Lindsey have since left Buffalo, which is what led Beane and his wife to take the reins.

Now called “Bills Mufffia,” the program sponsors furry friends at the Erie County SPCA. The Beane family are huge fans of adopting furbabies. In fact, they have two of their own – Bodie and Peanut Beane!

How It Works

The adoption fee covers dogs, cats, small animals, birds, reptiles, and farm animals! There will be different “draftees” every week, making sure each animal in the shelter is given the best chance to find their furever family.

“I think adopting is so important because you have shelters that are just full,” said Hayley Beane.

“No matter what happens at work, good day, bad day, you win 40 to nothing, lose 40 to nothing, your dogs are fired up to see you when you come in the door, and that’s a cool feeling, the love and nurturing that they bring to the family,” Brandon Beane said in a video discussing his passion for adoption from shelters.

About The SPCA of Erie County

All animals adopted from the SPCA of Erie County are given a physical exam, vaccinations, and spaying/neutering for dogs, cats, rabbits, and male rats, among a multitude of other treatments and services.

Additionally, adoptive parents can receive 30-days of health insurance coverage for their newest family member. Moms and dads to new furbabies can even receive three weeks of access to the SPCA’s Behavior and Training Department online and a free bag of food.

All of this goes to show just how far the Beane’s contribution goes to new pet parents. They’re giving every pup (and other fuzzy friends) the best possible chance at a happy life filled with the love and warmth of a new family!

That’s worth more than a thousand touchdowns!
